The name ‘Shongololo Express’ comes from the indigenous people of the southern continent that used to describe the distant trains weaving along the tracks as shongololos (their name for a millipede).
Shongololo Express offers luxury railway travel on a train that accommodates 72 guests in beautifully designed en-suite cabins. Guests on the train can enjoy meals in the historically appointed dining cars, relax in the bar or lounge carriages or soak up the extraordinary views from the observation carriage at the back of the train.
Shongololo Express takes its passengers on three different, yet equally epic 12- to 15-day adventures, from Pretoria to Cape Town, Swakopmund and Victoria Falls. These wonderful journeys include stops at fascinating South African towns such as Graaff-Reinet, Oudtshoorn, Knysna and Kimberly, with game viewing at Kruger National Park, Etosha National Park, Kapama Game Reserve, Hwanga National Park and Hluhluwe Wildlife Reserve.
