The Journey Begins
Your journey begins in Dar es Salaam, where the train will depart the station and travel to various destinations in Tanzania. You’ll enjoy a delicious lunch on the train as you travel to Selous Game Reserve. As the train navigates the tracks, tea will be served in either the lounge car or observation cars. Later, you’ll enjoy a formal dinner as your journey on the track continues into the night.
Tanzania and Zambia
In Tanzania, you’ll visit Selous Game Reserve and explore the town of Makambako. As you tuck into your lunch, you’ll see the Udzungwa Mountains and Baobab forests as the train travels the tracks. The train will cross the border and enter Zambia, where you’ll visit the Chisimba Falls. You’ll then take a chartered flight to South Luangwa National Park, where you’ll enjoy a game drive in the Luangwa Valley.
DRC and Angola
Excursions that await you in DRC include a city tour of Lubumbashi. You’ll also visit to a copper mine in an area home to one of the world’s largest known copper and cobalt resources. In Angola, you’ll enjoy a walking tour of Luau, Luena and Huambo, as well as travel along the Kasai River and see the villages of Cassai and Cameira along the way.
One of the best excursions on this journey is the trip to Selous Game Reserve – one of the largest animal reserves in the world. The World Heritage Site is home to elephants, lions, leopards, giraffes, crocodiles and many other wild animals. The highlight of your time in Zambia is the two-night safari in South Luangwa National Park, where you’ll enjoy thrilling game drives. In the DRC, you’ll get to explore Lubumbashi, the second largest city in the country, on a city tour.
On your last day, you’ll enjoy breakfast on the train before you arrive at the train station in Angola. From the station, you’ll travel by transfer to Hotel Terminus, where you’ll enjoy lunch, followed by a city tour of Benguela.
